Nardi Steverink (Master’s psychology, Utrecht University) works as a senior researcher at the section Geriatrics of the Department of Internal Medicine of the University Hospital Groningen, since 2000. Before this position she worked as a postdoc researcher at the section Psychogerontology of Nijmegen University (1996–2000). She got her PhD in 1996 at the ICS (Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology), Groningen. The research of her dissertation was executed within the Groningen Longitudinal Aging Study (GLAS). Her scientific interest focuses on theoretical and empirical issues regarding 1) successful aging, well-being and quality of life of aging individuals; 2) social and psychological processes – next to physical processes - that play a role in wellbeing and successful aging; 3) frailty and self-management abilities of older people; 4) aspects of care in relation to aging; 5) the development and testing of interventions aimed at promoting successful aging.
