JWST First Scientific Data Release
On 12th July 2022, the first JWST scientific data have been publicly released.
This release was shown live by numerous institutions world-wide, in a coordinated event sponsored by NASA and ESA.
In Groningen, infrared astronomers from the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute directly linked to JWST, have conducted a public show at the DOT Planetarium. They introduced the event with brief talks on JWST instrumentation and prospective science, and then projected the JWST data release live on the dome.
To continue the celebration, the JWST new images will be on public display at the Groningen Forum over the next two months.
These events have been kindly sponsored by NOVA and the NWO.
