Traffic and Environmental Psychology

Traffic and environmental research at the University of Groningen goes back to the previous century, when John Michon founded the Traffic Research Centre in Haren in 1977. At present the Groningen Traffic and Environmental Psychology Group is a working group within the Department of Psychology.The group’s members have backgrounds in social psychology, experimental psychology, and sociology. The expertise of this group covers a wide range of topics relevant to traffic safety, behaviour change, and the evaluation of the behavioural effects of new technology.

Between 2016 and 2019 we offered the master track Traffic Psychology and Sustained Mobility. The video (made for the master) still highlights a few of the topics that we work on, and for that reason we leave it online. From September 2019 the course Traffic Psychology and Sustained Mobility will be offered. This is a third year elective course for Psychology students, but is also an elective course in the Minor Psychology in Society. Watch the video below:
