Introducing our new scientific staff member Floriaan Schmidt

GRIP is proud to introduce Dr. Floriaan A. Schmidt as new tenure track assistant professor in Precision Drug Therapy. Schmidt recently started his research in the research group PharmacoTherapy, -Epidemiology & -Economics
Floriaan Schmidt studied public health at the VU university of Amsterdam. After his graduation, he moved to the UMC Utrecht’s Julius Center to pursue a PhD in epidemiological method for precision medicine. During this 4-year period, Floriaan published 10+ papers in the top 10% epidemiological journals. In 2014, he joined the Institute of Cardiovascular Science of the University College of London to undertake a post-doc on genetically guided drug development. Under the tutelage of Professor Aroon Hingorani, Floriaan was awarded an UCL excellence fellowship to develop statistical methodology for Mendelian randomization studies for drug target validation.
Currently Floriaan’s researcher focusses on further improving precision medicine by combining omics and electronic healthcare data.
