Funding

It is possible to apply for UG funding for your Double/Joint Degree trajectory.

A maximum of 50% of a DD/JD trajectory can be funded by the UG. The UG can only fund candidates during their time at the UG.

Candidates who have funding for the periods spent at the partner institution can apply for a UG salary for the time spent in Groningen. Successful candidates will receive an employment contract. In the case of employment contracts that would cover 50% of the trajectory, UG prefers the candidate to spend the first half of their trajectory (2 years, resp. 18 months) in Groningen.

For funding requests for less than 50% from the UG, the GSH considers a tailor-made pathway according to the academic requirements of the trajectory.

Sandwich PhDs with scholarships from the national funding agency of the international partner institutions undergo the same application process. If their scholarship covers the full period of their PhD trajectory, candidates can apply for a top up. If the scholarship covers a shorter period, applications for additional funding can be submitted for the minimum period requested to realise a joint/double degree at the UG.
