Application
As of June 2026, the GSH has set Double/Joint Degree (Sandwich) application rounds each year. The deadline for the 2026 round is 1 October 2026.
Accepted candidates can start 1 April 2027 or 1 October 2027.
The following application requirements apply to the Graduate School for the Humanities at the University of Groningen. Make sure to inquire about the necessary steps at the respective partner institution as early in the process as possible.
GSH Double/Joint Degree (sandwich) application
To apply for a Double/Joint degree, the UG supervisor should submit the following documentation to the Graduate School on behalf of the candidate, via doubledoctorates.gsh rug.nl, in one single combined pdf file:

Candidate CV

Research proposal (see template*)

Sandwich application form (see template*)

Financial statement (see template*)

Candidate motivation letter

UG promotor/main supervisor support letter

Copy of candidate diploma (highest academic degree obtained, including a list of marks)

Scan of candidate passport

Official scholarship letter in English (only required if the candidate has a scholarship during the proposed time at UG)

Candidates whose projects were not selected can re-apply in the following funding round.
