Early Professional Award for Wouter Vansteelant
The British Ornithologists Union (BOU) has awarded Dr Wouter Vansteelant (GELIFES) with the Early Professional Award.
Vansteelant accepted the award last month at the International Wader Study Congress in Montpellier. With UG’s research unit BirdEyes, Vansteelant studies how black-tailed godwits, spoonbills and other migrating birds cope with rapid climate change in Europe. The jury praised the excellence of Wouter's international scientific projects and also highlighted his storytelling talent.

The BOU’s Early Professional Award is made annually for an outstanding initial contribution to the field of ornithology. This includes an outstanding contribution in one or more of the following categories: ornithological research, community activities, capacity building & mentorship, and science communication & engagement.
