CogniGron joins new Dutch consortium to advance brain technology

06 November 2025

We’re excited to announce that CogniGron will be part of a new national consortium led by the University of Amsterdam (UvA), aimed at accelerating progress in brain technology and neuromorphic computing.

The EBRAINS-Neurotech consortium, supported by an €18.3 million grant from the Dutch Research Council (NWO), brings together researchers from across the Netherlands to develop a shared infrastructure for cutting-edge neuroscience and computing research.

Through this initiative, scientists will be able to design smarter brain–machine interfaces, test advanced neural implants, and develop detailed digital brain models that bridge biology and technology.

Part of the project will focus on neuromorphic chips – processors that mimic how neurons process and transmit information. These chips operate faster and more efficiently than conventional computers, offering a sustainable and scalable alternative to today’s energy-intensive AI systems.
