Control system of a novel coupling mechanism for the Ocean Grazer power take-off system

The main research interest of the present proposal is centered in the multi-pump, multi-piston power take-off (MP2PTO) of the Ocean Grazer Wave Energy Converter (WEC). In particular, two main goals will be pursued: (I) the first one involves the design and modeling of the multi-domain hydraulic- mechanical coupling of the MP2PTO, where pistons of different sizes are to be used to adapt the pumping to the available wave energy of the current wave; and (II) the development, synthesis and simulation of numerically tractable and efficiency maximizing control strategies for the aforementioned coupling and the MP2PTO system.
