Analysis and control design for hysteretic systems

Description

Hysteresis is anonlinear phenomenon that is commonly found in a wide range of physical systems, such as, magnetic material, piezo-electric material and mechanical friction. Hysteresis phenomenon that is due to the friction, either between the magnetic domain-walls or between mechanical surfaces, is known to dissipate energy by heat. This is related to the concept of dissipativity in the systems theory literature. The aim of this research project is to  study the dissipativity property of Duhem hysteresis operator which can be useful for the analysis and control design for systems containing such hysteresis elements.
