Stable Isotopes

The Center of Isotope Research determines the relative concentrations of the stable isotopes  ²H (deuterium), ¹³C and ¹⁸O. The anaysis is executed for own research as well as for customers. Research fields include;

• isotope dating
• animal energetics

Isotope dating

With isotope dating, the unstable isoptope ¹⁴C can only be measured by AMS but the stable isotope ¹³C can be measured more accurate with a smaller mass-spectrometer. A large number of mass-spectrometers is used for optimal measurement of all types of samples. High quality results result are obtained due to careful sample preparation and quality control.
