The Legal Consultation Hour

The Legal Consultation Hour [het Juridische Spreekuur] takes place every weekday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Young professionals studying at the University of Groningen are on hand to provide free legal advice at various locations in Groningen.

The consultation hours are intended for anyone who is seeking legal advice. The consultation hours are free of charge and you can visit  without making an appointment. The Legal Consultation Hour is not a commercial organization but operates on the basis of subsidies. The consultation hour’s main target groups are students and other groups that are unable to access paid legal advice.

The consultation is conducted by two staff members. You will be given the opportunity to tell your story, during which any important information or data will be recorded. The staff may also ask you questions or request further information. In addition, and for the sake of administration, a form will be filled in with your contact details and a brief summary of your question. You will receive a written advice no later than two weeks after the interview took place. Legal Consultation Hour staff do not personally assist you in any legal proceedings.
