Dr B. (Birgit) Snijder-Kuipers, LLM

Birgit Snijder-Kuipers (born 8 June 1971) is a lecturer in civil law and notarial law at the department of Private Law and Notarial Law of the University of Groningen. Her teaching and research focus mainly on corporate law and notarial law. She holds a PhD (since 2010) from the University of Groningen. Her dissertation examines the transfer of legal form of corporate entities. She also regularly publishes commentaries and articles in law journals. Birgit Snijder-Kuipers is a member of several working groups (in the Netherlands and abroad) on corporate law, anti-money laundering and notarial law.

Birgit Snijder-Kuipers works at the corporate department of De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek as well. She specialises in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. Since joining De Brauw’s Corporate practice in 1996, Birgit has advised listed and unlisted companies on their corporate structure and corporate governance as well as on defences against hostile takeovers. She also advises on general corporate matters including restructuring, transfer of legal form, mergers and demergers.  Birgit was seconded in 2009 to SBM Offshore N.V. where s he acted as corporate secretary/legal advisor.
