Prof. Michel Vols appointed visiting professor Southampton Law School

Michel Vols, professor of public order law at our faculty, has been appointed visiting professor at Southampton Law School. He will regularly travel to Southampton until 1 February 2025 to combine this position with his work for the EVICT project and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).
Internationalization and connection
Vols' appointment will strengthen ties between our faculty's EVICT research group and Southampton Law School's Research Centre for People, Property and Community. He will work with colleagues from that Research Centre during this year. He will also be involved in teaching and working on grant applications. In its own words, the Law School sees Vols' arrival as an 'opportunity to contribute to the shared goal of internationalization with the University of Groningen'.
Curriculum vitae
Vols focuses his research on housing law, evictions, data science and public order enforcement. He is currently leading the EVICT project, a research initiative funded by an ERC Starting Grant. That project uses machine learning techniques to analyze European and national case law related to evictions.
In addition to that project and his own research, Vols chairs the Housing Law Working Group of the European Network of Housing Research. He is also a member of the Social Scientific Council (SWR) of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences.
