Jie Ouyang gets awarded Rudolf Agricola School PhD Grant

Jie Ouyang, PhD candidate in the Department of Private Law and Notarial Law at the Faculty of Law, has been awarded the Rudolf Agricola School PhD Grant of €2,000. With the help of that grant, he will conduct research at KU Leuven.

Fairer and more sustainable consumption

Ouyang is currently working on his doctoral research within European private law. He is studying how EU constitutional principles and fundamental rights can inform the framework of EU consumer law to promote fairer and more sustainable consumption.

In Leuven, the Consumer Competition Market Research Institute houses a team of researchers working closely together on the overarching topic of ‘sustainable consumption’. The goal of Ouyang's research stay in Leuven is to exchange knowledge with those researchers in order to better understand sustainable consumption himself.

Rudolf Agricola School PhD Grant

All PhD students working on sustainable development and supervised by a fellow of the Rudolf Agricola School are eligible for the Rudolf Agricola School PhD Grant. The selection process for the grant takes place three times per academic year: at the end of February (for applications in January), at the end of May (for applications in April) and at the end of October (for applications in September). Applicants can apply for scholarships worth €500, €1,000 or €2,000.

Once the selection committee has determined the winners, PhD students are expected to prepare a pitch to present their research at the PhD Grant Ceremony. The ceremony for the third round of awards has taken place this morning.
