The side-project of PhD candidate Manolis Kotzampasakis and LLM Energy and Climate Law alumnus Víctor Pérez Prieto has been admitted into the Venture Builder Incubator Cohort 3.0, organized by the Bayes Centre of the University of Edinburgh. In addition to a £2,000 grant, the incubator offers one-to-one support, links to investors and access to the university’s data expertise and wider entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Together with an international team of economists and software developers, Prieto and Kotzampasakis are building a climate tech startup (‘Carbon Glance’) that makes it easier for companies and investors to measure and report their exposure to carbon pricing.

Last year, Prieto and Kotzampasakis won the first prize in the category ‘Legal Tech in Carbon Pricing’ in the international competition 'Boosting Legal Innovation’, co-organized by law firm Baker McKenzie. Their solution could eventually help corporations and financial institutions manage their climate-related risks and transition to a low-carbon economy more efficiently.
