Freek Heideman and Justin Lindeboom receive Fulbright grants

On the 8th of June, PhD student Freek Heideman and Assistant Professor of European Law Justin Lindeboom were each awarded a Fulbright grant at the American Embassy in Wassenaar for a stay in the United States. The Fulbright program is a worldwide program for study and research exchange between the United States and more than 160 countries. It allows master students, PhD students and academics to pursue a graduate degree or conduct research at a prestigious American university.

Freek Heideman was awarderd a Fulbright grant for PhD students. Freek will conduct research on the American ruling system for his PhD thesis on Advance Tax rulings and Taxpayers' Rights. Freek will be hosted by the International Tax Program (ITP) of the New York University School of Law. The ITP is well-renowned in Freek's research field International Taxation.

Justin Lindeboom was awarded a Fulbright grant in order to pursue an LL.M. degree at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. While studying at Harvard, Justin will specialize in economic regulation and competition law from a historical, philosophical and constitutional perspective. He will use this knowledge in his research into the legal-theoretical aspects of European and American competition law. At Harvard, Justin will also be active as an Editor of the Harvard Journal of International Law and as the Academic Events Chair and Member of the Executive Board of the Harvard European Law Association.

Speakers at the Award Ceremony included Trix Mulder, PhD student at the Faculty of Law, who spoke about her experiences during her research at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, for which she received a Fulbright grant in 2019.
