It is our great pleasure to invite you to the Netherlands for the 18th IUCN Academy of Environmental Law. Over the last 17 years the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law has provided a useful and important forum for legal scholars and experts from all parts of the world to exchange knowledge, experiences and insights relating to environmental law in a wide sense. The Annual Colloquium is one of the main vehicles to support the efforts of the Academy.

The Law Faculty of the University of Groningen is honored to host this international conference in 2020 and we hope to welcome the international environmental law scholarly community to our beautiful city and to explore with us the future of Environmental Law, its ambition and reality. The Colloquium will be held from Monday the 6th of July 2020 till Friday the 10th of July 2020. It is subdivided into a teaching and research oriented workshops (on the 6th and 7th of July 2020) and the actual conference sessions from the 8th till the 10th of July 2020. On Saturday we offer optional social activities allowing you to explore the natural and historic marvels of our region. As is customary the conference will be complemented by an attractive program featuring a winetasting and a gala-dinner in the ‘Der Aa-kerk’ (Der Aa-Church).
