Video lecture Rob Henning on hibernation (in Dutch)

06 April 2020

Will people start hibernating next?

Hibernation is a fascinating phenomenon from the animal kingdom – really getting away from it all for a couple of months. No eating, no drinking – everything is ‘on hold’. Rob Henning, Professor of Anaesthesiology at the University of Groningen, usually puts people under anaesthesia for surgeries, but he also studies animals going into hibernation. There are numerous health benefits to hibernation and we can learn a lot from it. In this lecture, he explains whether we as humans will ever start hibernating and why you would also ever want to.
