Masterclass Design Thinking in Education by Julie Schell en Tamie Glass

18 January 2019

On 29 January internationally recognized experts in learning and design - Professors Julie Schell and Tamie Glass - will conduct a master class on Design Thinking* in Education to a selected group of teachers from the University of Groningen. They will lead you through a hands-on simulation that offers an introduction to the design thinking process used in The School of Design and Creative Technologies at The University of Texas at Austin and other prominent design schools including Stanford’s and renowned global design firms, such as IDEO.

As part of the experience, you will be immersed in a design thinking exercise to work in teams to generate creative ideas for solving universal education issues. Following the design thinking simulation, Professors Schell and Glass will share their pedagogical philosophies and decisions and engage in a discussion on how and why design thinking might be applied to classroom learning.

The Masterclass will be by invitation only. If you did not receive an invitation by e-mail but you would like to participate, please email Irene Douwes and let us know why we should have invited you.

*Design Thinking is an iterative process in which we seek to understand the user, challenge assumptions, and redefine problems in an attempt to identify alternative strategies and solutions that might not be instantly apparent with our initial level of understanding. At the same time, Design Thinking provides a solution-based approach to solving problems. It is a way of thinking and working as well as a collection of hands-on methods.
