The strength of data for the Maritime and Logistics industry

06 February 2018
Data Science in the Boardroom

Big Data and Data Science have become buzzwords that many maritime and logistics professionals like to discuss, but few know how to effectively integrate it in their organisations. How do you capitalise on the possibilities a data-driven approach can create for your business, in a world where Data Science will only grow more prominent?

To answer this question the University of Groningen Business School (UGBS) has developed the Data Science in the Boardroom course in close collaboration with Venturn, a maritime and logistics consultancy . This 1,5-day course takes place in Rotterdam on March 15 & 16, 2018 and offers opportunities for maritime and logistics professionals to develop their Data Science skills, stay on the map and implement modern technologies.

The course is essentially tailored to fit whatever needs a company has. Jeroen Janssens, author of Data Science at the Command Line and one of the trainers involved with the course, explains: “It’s all about bringing your own data and learning what you need to know to use Data Science in a way that’s relevant for you.”

Marnix Zoutenbier of CQM also stresses the importance of relevance of Data Science for organisational goals and priorities: “Too many times you see a business collecting a lot of data and then asking the question ‘What can we do with all of this?’. But that’s the wrong way around: you need to define what you want to achieve first, and then discuss how Data Science can fit into that bigger picture.”

Do you want to find out how you can get strategic advantage out of analysing your own business data? Then take part in the newest edition of the course Data Science in the Boardroom. Visit Venturn’s website for more information about the Data Science in the Boardroom course or apply directly by sending an e-mail to datascience venturn.nl.
