An overview of social discontent in the Netherlands
Social discontent in the Netherlands is high, with the result that people are voting for parties that are increasingly extreme, and are interpreting headlines and news reports in a different way. There is also a link to the type of media that people use. This has been revealed by PhD research conducted by Anne Marthe van der Bles. She will be awarded a PhD by the University of Groningen on 28 September. Van der Bles has developed a way to measure social discontent and make international comparisons. She used it to more closely examine social discontent.
