Local levies for home owners rise by 0.6%

Wassenaar the most expensive location, Tilburg the cheapest

Households that own their own homes will on average pay 0.6% more in municipal, provincial and water board taxes. The increase is significantly less than the expected 1% inflation. Municipal taxes are set to rise by 0.3% on average, the water rates by 1.6% and the provincial taxes will remain the same. This is revealed by the Atlas van de Lokale Lasten [Atlas of Local Levies] presented by the Centre for Research on Local Government Economics [Centrum voor Onderzoek van de Economie van de Lagere Overheden (COELO) today. COELO is a University of Groningen research institute.

Owner-occupied multi-person households pay on average € 1,271: € 723 to the municipality, € 222 to the province and € 326 to the water board. Wassenaar is the most expensive place to live (€ 1,832); Tilburg is the cheapest (€ 1,009).
