Risk management still a blind spot 5 years into the crisis
The last few years seem to have taught organizations very little about risk management. This is the conclusion drawn by researchers working on the Second National Study of Risk Management in the Netherlands 2014, including Prof. Dick Swagerman from the University of Groningen.
Very little progress has been made since the first study on this topic in 2009. In fact, the researchers even noted a slight deterioration on certain points. The results of this study give cause for concern because previous research into this subject points to poor risk management as one of the main causes of the current financial crisis. The study was carried out by Nyenrode Business University, the University of Groningen, the Netherlands Institute of Chartered Accountants (NBA) and PwC.
