DISC Thesis Award for Marko Seslija

02 April 2014

During the 33th Benelux Meeting on Systems and Control, Marko Seslija was awarded the DISC (Dutch Institute of Systems and Control) PhD Thesis Award 2014. This is a yearly award for the best defended thesis of a PhD student affiliated to DISC. DISC (Dutch Institute of Systems and Control) is the interuniversity research institute and graduate school that unites all university groups in the Netherlands that are active in systems and control theory and engineering.

Marko Seslija received this award together with a price of €1000,-. Marko obtained his PhD in March 2013 from the University of Groningen under the joint supervision of Prof. J.M.A. Scherpen (Institite of Technology and Management) and Prof. A.J. van der Schaft (Johann Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics and Computer ScienceI). The main topics of his doctoral research were concerned with the system-theoretic modeling and energy-shaping control of multi-physics systems (distributed port-Hamiltonian systems described by coupled ODEs and PDEs), and their structure-preserving discretization.
