Prof. Frank Vanclay to receive IAIA's Individual Award
Prof. Frank Vanclay, chair of the department of Cultural Geography at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences, has been selected to receive IAIA’s 2014 Individual Award . The International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) is the leading global network on best practice in the use of impact assessment for informed decision making regarding policies, programs, plans and projects.
The IAIA Individual Award acknowledges personal contribution to the discipline of impact assessment. It recognizes major achievement and advancement in theory and/or practice over a period of time at an international level. The Committee selected prof. Vanclay for this honor because of his ongoing and sustained contribution to Social Impact Assessment theory and practice, which has had notable international influence in promoting and shaping the emergence of Social Impact as a significant discipline within Impact Assessment.
The award will be presented at IAIA’s annual conference event in Viña del Mar, Chile (IAIA14 – Impact Assessment for Social and Economic Development, 8-11 April 2014).
