Dissertation: Atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis. From causal to incidental but not innocent

Promotor(s): prof. G.J. Navis

Faculty: Medical Sciences

In this thesis we addressed the clinical implications of atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis and the potential therapeutic options in patients with renovascular hypertension and patients with peripheral arterial disease. The studies illustrate the changing perspective on the role of the stenosis as such, that has traditionally been regarded as a causal factor of renovascular hypertension, with apparently clear causal intervention possibilities for hypertension and renal function.
