Title: "Which Symmetries underly String Theory?''
Abstract:
We point out that there are some unresolved puzzles concerning the question:
"what are the basic symmetries underlying string theory?''.
Trying to find an answer to this question leads us to symmetries that are not yet
tamed by the mathematicians. Nevertheless, they seem to play an important role in
understanding the basic structure of string theory. We will review the
present state of affairs and address the most urgent
open questions.
Colloquium coordinators are Prof.dr. A.C.D. van Enter (e-mail : A.C.D.van.Enter@rug.nl) and
