Master student Sanne van der Meer (MSc IB&M) wins EUMEDION Thesis Prize
Sanne van der Meer (MSc IB&M) has won the Eumedion Thesis prize of 2009, worth 2,500 euro's. Sanne’s thesis has the title: 'Supervisory Board Compensation: Paying for Complexity'. Under supervision of Dr. Kees van Veen, she constructed and analyzed a large longitudinal dataset which shows how the compensation of ‘commissarissen’ of Dutch enlisted firms has developed over time.
The jury, which was chaired by Prof. Geert Raaijmakers (VU), classifies her work as `highly relevant’ in the present context in which the tasks of `commissarissen’ are changing quickly. The jury praises the fact that she focused on an important topic that is very complex, both from a practitioner, as well as from an academic point of view. Part of her research was conducted during an internship at Towers Perrin.
Another MSc IB&M student, Floris van der Lee was shortlisted in the Top-5 for the same price and is titled: `The Evolution of the Dutch Interlocking Directorates Network: a Longitudinal Study (1995-2007) assessing the Corporate Elite in the Netherlands’.
Eumedion
Eumedion is a representative of the interests of institutional investors in the field of corporate governance in the Netherlands. The Eumedion Thesis prize is a yearly prize and consists of €2500,-.
