Elmer Sterken appointed Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business

Prof. Elmer Sterken will be appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, as successor to Prof. Henk Sol. Sterken will be appointed for a period of five years, starting on 1 September 2008.
The appointment of Elmer Sterken, who is currently Vice-Dean, means that the number Faculty Board members will be reduced to four: Sterken himself, Teun van Duinen, Kees Praagman and Frans Rutten. The distribution of responsibilities within the Faculty Board will be announced shortly.
Elmer Sterken (Apeldoorn, 1961) has been Professor of Monetary Economics since 1994. He studied Econometrics in Groningen and gained his PhD in Economics at the University of Groningen in 1990. He then went on to become Assistant Professor (UD) and Associate Professor (UHD) of Macroeconomics and in 1994 he took the position of Full Professor. In addition, he also held numerous other positions, such as visiting professor at universities in Munich, Kobe and Atlanta. Sterken is also Director of the Netherlands Network of Business Economics and consultant at Effectenbank Stroeve N.V., Amsterdam.
