Minor Arts & Culture: Film and Contemporary Audiovisual Media

In what way have Madonna, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tim Burton been influenced by German Expressionist films of the 1920s? Why are we scared when we watch horror films like It and cry when we see the beautiful hero die on the screen in Titanic? How could film develop into the most influential art form of our time, an art form abused by dictators and loved by millions?
If you have asked yourself these or similar questions, feel invited to follow the Faculty Minor in Film and Contemporary Audiovisual Media. In five courses of altogether 30 ECTS you will be introduced to the foundations of our contemporary audiovisual culture; you will study the history of cinema from 1895 till today; you will watch some of the most important films of all times; and you will discuss key concepts of film studies.
