Premaster's programmes Faculty of Arts

Do you want to follow a Master’s degree programme at the Faculty of Arts but your university of applied sciences or university Bachelor’s degree doesn’t satisfy the entry requirements? In a number of cases, you can then follow a Pre-Master’s programme of six months to a year to bring your knowledge and skills to the required level. The Admissions Board of your desired Master’s degree programme will decide on whether this is possible for you.

Accepted for a Pre-master’s programme at the Faculty of Arts

Has the Admission’s Board decided that you can be accepted for a Pre-master at the Faculty of Arts? Then you will find some more (practical) information below.

If you have been accepted to a Pre-master by the Admissions Board, you have certain deficiencies in your academic background and cannot enter a Master directly. This Pre-master is an individually designed programme to help you enter the specific Master programme mentioned in your letter of admission.
Regulations Pre-master's programme

General

An individual Pre-master programme ranges between 10 EC – 60 EC and students have 4 semesters to complete their individual Pre-master (see exception for NON-EU students below). One study year consists of 2 semesters, thus Pre-master students have 2 years to complete their individual programme. Each semester, students can follow courses up to a maximum of 30 EC.

Non-EU

The Dutch MoMi legislation demands that you need to obtain all ECTS (100%) of your pre-master programme within 12 months, in order to keep your residence permit in the next academic year and to be able to continue with your associate degree programme.

Transfer to Master

When you have passed all courses belonging to your Pre-master, you can seamlessly transfer to the related Master as mentioned in your letter of admission per the first possible starting date (September/February). All you have to do is apply for the master via Studielink, arrange payment and you are set! You do not have to ask permission from the Admissions Board again.

Do note, however, that not all master
programmes start in February, so be sure to check the starting dates of the Master you would like to do.
