René Veenstra appointed as professor of Sociology at University of Groningen
06 April 2011
Since April 1, René Veenstra (ICS / Sociology, Groningen) has been appointed as professor ("adjunct hoogleraar") of Sociology, in particular Social Development. The focus in his research is on developing and testing theories on the development of prosocial behavior (solidarity, helping) and antisocial behavior (criminality, bullying). This research line uses several multivariate analysis techniques, including social network analysis. The theoretical and empirical insights about network processes have their importance for interventions, for example to give teachers insight in relationships among children in order to prevent bullying.
