Future-proof Technical Craftmanship in the Northern Netherlands (TTV)
In the project "Future-proof Technical Craftsmanship in the Northern Netherlands" (TTV), various parties are working together to develop a new educational track for future technicians in the installation industry. Professions and associated competencies are changing rapidly under the influence of developments such as digitization, globalization, flexibility of the labor market and the energy transition. Lifelong learning and development is more important than ever. The parties involved in this project respond to this by jointly developing an innovative educational program, aiming at sustainable placement of youth on the (regional) labor market.
This new educational program is positioned at the crossroad of technology and IT. Both the content of the studies and the co-creation are unique. One of the innovative aspects of the program is the fact that new technologies in the field of energy and sustainability, digital skills and soft & social skills are integrated into the development of technical craftsmanship. The program has a dual character (learning and working). The first two years are characterized by a broad theoretical basis, combined with internships and practical assignments that are carried out at the participating companies. In years 3 and 4, students join a paid "traineeship" with these companies. A coach has been appointed to stimulate students personal study and career development and to form an active link between theory and practice.
The project is supported by action research to monitor the innovation process and to make it accessible to other interested parties. The research has a participatory and qualitative character. Mid-term evaluations focus on collaboration and co-creation, as well as on the execution of the education and the development of the students. Regular feedback, both internally and towards a broader network - such as advisory board meetings - supports the building of an active learning community.
This research project is finished.
