Dean Kees Aarts:
'These vacancies are the first step in the implementation of our sector plan From insight to impact. In this plan, the faculties of Social Sciences of all universities together propose to look for answers to some major social issues.' The faculty BSS will focus on the four themes mentioned before, thus contributing to our common denominator Societal and individual resilience'.

Applications

For all positions, candidates should have obtained a PhD degree in a relevant subfield of the social sciences, and be interested to work across social science disciplines. 'The faculty themes are interdisciplinary, meaning the postdocs will work with various groups in the faculty and even cooperate with faculties in the country. This way the postdocs not only gain experience in interdisciplinary cooperation and coordinating multifaceted research, but can also build up a large network,' says Kees Aarts. Researchers that are interested in these positions can read more information in the vacancy text.

Faculty Profile

Climate change, globalization, digitization and increasing diversity; these are but a few of the developments our society is dealing with. Resilience is necessary to cope well with these changes–the capacity to hold your own and adjust in the midst of change. This is the common thread present in the teaching and research of the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences. Attention is paid to both individual as well as societal resilience and the question of how we can improve these. In this context, we focus on the topics of migration, environment and climate, health, upbringing and teaching, protection of vulnerable minorities, and sustainable collaborations.
