About Jana Knot-Dickscheit

Jana Knot-Dickscheit's research, teaching and community engagement focus on families with multiple and complex problems. Families with multiple and complex problems involve the long-term or chronic presence of problems in different areas of life. Children growing up in these families have an increased risk of developing developmental problems, emotional problems, behavioural problems and of maltreatment, abuse and neglect. As head of the Center of Expertise on Families with Multiple and Complex Problems, she aims to contribute to a better future for children and families. The appointment UHD1 (associate professor) is effective from 1 January 2023.

About Elianne Zijlstra

Elianne Zijlstra's research, teaching and community engagement focuses on how decisions (often made by adults) contribute to children growing up safely. For Elianne, the voice of children is a central theme in her research projects. In society, when decisions are made that (negatively) affect children's lives, their interests are often not taken into account. Elianne's focus includes decision-making within migration and youth protection, as well as the impact of growing up in the Groningen gas extraction area on children and young people. Furthermore, she wants to do more research on the safe growing up of children placed out of home. Her promotion to UHD2 (associate professor) took effect 1 December 2022.
