Comenius Grant for Innovative Elective on Teaching Profession

16 June 2025

Deniz Haydar has been awarded a Comenius Teaching Fellows grant for an educational project aimed at addressing the shortage of teachers in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Together with Sofie van den Eynde, she is developing a new elective course at the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE), in which students explore learning and teaching theories, STEM didactics, and educational innovation.

In this course, students collaborate with lecturers on improving the education within their own bachelor's programme. This hands-on experience not only deepens their understanding of and appreciation for the teaching profession, but also encourages interest in a career in education.

The project is a joint initiative of the Teacher Education programme (BSS) and the Centre for Learning and Teaching (FSE).
