Jasperina Brouwer receives a VENI grand for her project Back to Nightingale: A social network perspective on the development of professional commitment in nurses.

Prematurely leaving a profession due to declining professional commitment creates labour shortage concerns in nursing. In her project, Jasperina Brouwer, aims to understand the role of social support in dealing with work experiences and the effect it has on professional commitment. Using a smartphone app and interviews data is gathered on social networks, experiences and commitment.

Brouwer is one of 13 researchers that have been awarded a Veni grant. VENI grants are intended for researchers who have recently gained a PhD and have significant and original talent for innovative research. The grant is up to € 250,000 and offers these young researchers the chance to develop their ideas over the next three years.
