Start of renovation of the extension Heymans building: construction crane + alternative walking routes

As previously announced, construction work on the 'Old Construction' of the Heymans building of the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences (GMW) will start on Monday 1 April 2019. This space under the Heymans wing was stripped and partly demolished last summer. Contractor Hegeman from Nijverdal will carry out the renovation work, which is expected to last one year.

Construction crane

This week the first preparations were made by, among other things, the placing of construction fences. The contractor will start setting up the construction site on Monday 1 April by placing site cabins and a construction crane.

Alternative walking routes

The layout of the building site will block a number of the existing walkways. The plan shows the temporary walking routes through the garden.

Construction nuisance

Only small work will be carried out until the May break. Work will be intensified from the end of April. More information when available.

Contractor’s working hours

The contractor’s standard working hours are between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. The transport of materials will be kept to a minimum between 8 and 9 a.m., so as to ensure easy access to the parking in the morning.
