Matching Day BA Religious Studies

When:Mo 08-06-2020 10:30 - 17:00
Where:Blackboard

A matching day is an event to check whether you have made the right choice in applying for a certain degree programme. Do the contents of the programme match your expectations of the programme? Choosing a programme that does not offers what you are looking for is unfortunate, we want to help you make the right decision. And ofcourse we hope you will find it a perfect match! The event is also a nice way to get to know your fellow students before the programme starts.

Normally we organise this event on-site, but that is not an option right now. Therefore, we organize an online event! You will receive an invitation for this from our student advisor Kees van den Ende.

During the event, you will follow an online lecture by one of your future lecturers and you will talk in small groups with our student mentors.

Programme

10:30 - 10:45 Walk in

The matching will take place online through various sessions on the online platform of the University of Groningen, Nestor. Log in before 10:45 a.m. to make sure you are ready on time.

10:45 – 11:15 Information on starting your studies

What courses do you start with, what are they about, how do you prepare for lectures? You will receive information from the study advisor about how much you should read for an exam, what an exam looks like and how best to study for it. What is a study manual, and where can you find it? How should you order books and where can you find the timetable?

11:30 – 12:15 Lecture

In order to ensure that your expectations of the program match reality, you will follow a 45 minute lecture. In preparation for this lecture, we expect that you have studied the study material sent to you and completed the assignment.

12:30 – 1:15 Presentation Gerardus van der Leeuw and Meeting with Mentors

Study association Gerardus van der Leeuw presents itself and the activities it organizes. Then you will talk to the mentors (senior students) together with a small group of other prospective students. In your first year of study, the mentors guide you through everything you encounter during your studies. During this meeting you’ll talk about the expectations that you have of the program and what your motivation is to study Religious Studies. You also have the opportunity to ask all your questions.
