Opening of Academic Year, Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies

The joint opening of the academic year for the UG’s Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies (ThRS) and the Protestant Theological University (PThU) will be held in the Doopsgezinde Kerk (Mennonite Church) on Wednesday 6 September. The special guest will be Prince Jaime of Bourbon-Parma, ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Holy See (the Vatican), who will give an address during the opening.

College Tour
Before the opening, a College Tour with the Prince has been organized by the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies, led by Dr Brenda Bartelink. Registration for this event is closed, there are no more seats available.
Prince Jaime of Bourbon-Parma
His Royal Highness Prince Jaime Bernardo of Bourbon-Parma (Nijmegen, 1972) is the second son of Princess Irene and Carlos Hugo of Bourbon-Parma. Since 2014 he has been ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Holy See in the Vatican City. He studied International Relations and obtained a Master’s degree in International Economics and Conflict Management, both in the US. Before his appointment as ambassador, he held various posts abroad: as first secretary of the Netherlands Embassy in Baghdad, as political advisor to a military peace mission in Afghanistan and as a member of the cabinet of European Commissioner Neelie Kroes in Brussels. From 2007 to 2014 he was stationed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague, first as senior political advisor on Crisis Management and Peace Operations and then as Special Envoy for Natural Resources.
