Cryogene department
The Faculty Technical Support (FTD) comprises various departments that support the research and teaching groups within the Faculty of Science and Engineering in developing and manufacturing equipment for research and education. This involves equipment for which no standard solutions are available.
Glass-blowing and Woodworking are part of the Mechanics Department. There is also a combined technical storeroom for the departments of Electronics and Mechanics.

Ordering and costs
Ordering
The Cryogenics department has dewars with capacities of 100 and 60 liters. If you place an order for one of these dewars on weekdays before 11:00 AM, it will be delivered 2 business days later.
Longer delivery time for 250-liter dewars
Dewars with a capacity of 250 liters must be ordered in advance, which means there is a longer delivery time.
Completing the order form
When ordering liquid helium, only one package may be ordered at a time on the gas order form.
If you want to order multiple packages, you must submit multiple forms.
Example: You want to order 200 liters of liquid helium. In that case, you must submit two forms or clearly indicate that you want a 250-liter dewar.
Delivery
-
Ordered gas cylinders will be delivered to the departments.
-
Ordered liquid nitrogen and liquid helium can be picked up in building 5124.
Returning empty helium dewars
Due to internal billing for liquid helium and the limited number of dewars available, a helium dewar must be returned to the Cryogene department within 14 calendar days.
Please note: Due to the delivery time, you must place a new order for liquid helium in a timely manner if liquid helium is still needed directly following on the 14 calendar days mentioned above.
Costs
The costs for gas cylinders, helium, and nitrogen are passed on to users.
