Study Association

A study association is an organization run by a team of students from the respective bachelor’s and master’s degree programme(s). The FSE study associations organize many activities for students, including introductory camps and monthly “borrels” (informal social gatherings, often with drinks), but also more serious events such as company visits or conferences. Study associations differ from the general student associations where the degree programme is irrelevant. And study associations do not have hazing rituals.

Welcome! We are the study association of Industrial Engineering and Management, Mechanical Engineering and Systems and Control.  We provide study support, personal development activities, career events and social activities for all of our members. Lugus has over 700 members from all tracks and years and is growing every year. Our association has 13 committees, consisting of over 90 active members, which organise social activities to relieve your stress and career events to give you a view of your future career.

We organise several introduction activities for both Master and Bachelor students to provide all new students with an exciting start to the year. For Master students specifically, we organize a Master Event on the 15th of September, previous master events have been activities such as a 3-course dinner, a High Wine, and Spyderwheelz-ing. But we do so much more! Your student life offers endless opportunities to get to know new people and develop yourself. Lugus can be of great use for this! These are the objectives of our association:

  • To contribute to the broadening of the scientific education of its members.
The association organises activities such as symposia, excursions, conferences and handles the book sale for its members.
  • To promote bonding between students and the academic staff.
The association tries to achieve this through socials, (ski)trips, social and sporting activities.
  • To represent the interests of its members that relate to their studies or to their future employment. This is done by organising Inhouse days, recruitment dinners and study support activities.

Being an active member and thus being part of a committee of Lugus means that you quickly make new friends with whom you will organise awesome activities and boost your CV while you are at it! As a pre-Master student, you may be interested in joining one of our Master committees, or simply attending our career events with companies throughout the year.

Make sure to take a look at our website www.tbvlugus.nl for a complete overview of our exciting and diverse association! This is also the website where you can become a member of our association, which only costs 15 euros for your entire stay in Groningen, which you pay at the beginning of your study time.

Kind regards,
On behalf of the 22nd board of TBV Lugus
