Books and other materials

During your courses, study books are regularly used as a source of information. You can choose to buy these study books yourself (online or via a bookshop), but the study association offers you another option that is both easier and cheaper. The study association Pharmaciae Sacrum gets a 20% discount on English books and 10% discount on Dutch books from it’s supplier, which is directly to your advantage. This page contains all the information you need to know about how to order the books via P.S. The study association also provides the option to order a lab coat, safety goggles and other lab equipment, which are all obligatory for the practicals.

Which study books do you need?

You can find extensive information on the courses of your master programme in Ocasys. Select Master to find information on the courses in the track you will follow within Medical Pharmaceutical Sciences. All MPS students will start with the courses Drug Development: From Design to Evaluation and Academic Skills. The third course you will take in 1A will depend on your track.

The recommended and obligatory literature of each course is stated on Ocasys, and is often a study book. You can order the books for 1b at a later during the academic year as well once you have chosen your electives and decided on your planning.

Procedure for ordering

Books for period Ia can be ordered between July 1st and October 1st. Of course we advise you to order your books before the start of the academic year, so you will receive them in time. The procedure for ordering your books via the study association consists of the following steps:

● Step 1: Become a member of the study association P.S.

If you want to order cheap books via P.S., you will first need to become a member. You can take care of this easily online by visiting www.psgroningen.nl. Click on ‘First-year Introduction’ and subsequently on ‘Become a member’, and follow the various steps to become a member. A membership only costs €20 per year. Of course, being a member will provide you with a lot more than just the possibility to order cheap books. You can find more information on P.S. here.

● Step 2: Register at wo4you.nl

To order books, you can go to the P.S. website, then click on ‘Webshop’ and then ‘Order books’. Before you can order books, you will need to register once at wo4you.nl. To do so, click on the ‘Mijn WO4YOU’ icon in the upper right corner of the website. Here you need to choose the option to create an account. Follow the various steps to register.

● Step 3: Place your order

To order your books, go to https://www.psgroningen.nl/webshop/order-books. Visit the webshop and follow the various steps and instructions.

● Step 4: Pay your order

Payment of your order will take place at the end of the ordering procedure. The payment needs to be done via iDEAL, creditcard or PayPal.

● Step 5: Receive your order

During the ordering process, you may choose to have your books delivered at home or to have them delivered at the P.S.-boardroom. We strongly recommend you to have the books delivered at home. The time it will take to have the books delivered depends on the moment of ordering. On average, WO4YOU strives to send the books within a week.

Sale of lab coats and other lab supplies

If you do not have a lab coat from your previous education, you can purchase that via Pharmaciae Sacrum. In period Ia, we will organize a special day for you to fit a lab coat, for which you will receive a notification in September. Other lab supplies can be obtained by visiting the P.S.-boardroom. The first possibility for this will be the first week of the academic year. Below, you will find the list of lab supplies and their prices. Please check which of your courses have practicals and whether you need these supplies.
