Application Checklist

In order to process your application quickly, we need your application package to be complete. Here we explain what you should include in your application and what you can send us as soon as possible afterwards. You can use OAS to upload digital copies of the necessary documents.

Documents to upload with your application

For all programmes

  • Passport
    A copy of the page(s) in your passport mentioning your personal data. Please make sure the copy is legible.
  • Diploma or statement expected date of graduation
    If it is not in English or Dutch, please also provide a translation in English or Dutch. A copy is sufficient for first evaluation.
  • Transcripts
    A copy of your (temporary) list of grades. If it is not in English or Dutch, please provide a translation in English or Dutch.
    If your list is temporary, please also submit a list of courses you still have to take to complete your programme.
  • Curriculum Vitae/Resume
    Curriculum Vitae/Resume, including your personal details, previous education (list of all schools / institutions which have issued diplomas and dates of attendance) and relevant work experience.

Only when you already live in the Netherlands

  • Copy of Dutch residence permit (front and reverse side)
    For NON-EU applicants who already live in The Netherlands. If the residence permit is no longer valid, please submit a copy of the expired card and an official statement from the IND acknowledging that you have applied for an extension. Please make sure the copy is legible.

Extra for Master programmes

  • Letter of motivation
    A letter of motivation, explaining why you are applying for admission to the programme (no more then 650 words).
  • Two letters of recommendation
    These should be from academic staff. The letter can be scanned and uploaded. If a referee insists on sending the letter directly, it should be sent to the Admissions Office.
  • GMAT or GRE test results
    For Economics and Business related programmes of the Faculty of Economics. For details and exemptions, please check here.
  • Course descriptions, list of English textbooks
    • Course descriptions of any courses you have taken in the field of the specific Master programme (specialization) you are applying for, and of any courses in research methods and statistics. For all Economics related MSc programmes;
    • List of English textbooks used in the courses of your undergraduate degree programme (author(s), title, edition, year).

Documents to be sent as soon as they are available

For all programmes

  • Proof of English proficiency (for non EU before 1 May)

  • Mathematics proficiency
    For details, please check here .

Only when you apply for a Dutch taught programme

  • NT2 result
    If you apply for a programme taught in Dutch and Dutch is not your native language: a copy of your NT2 result.

To arrange when you are admitted

When you have been (conditionally) admitted to study in Groningen, you need to arrange a lot of practical things as well. Find out more here.
