Human Geography and Urban and Regional Planning

On September 28th, Elsevier Magazine published the ranking of ‘Best Programmes of 2017’. Several programmes of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences were rated top of their categories.

The ranking is based on the results of the NSE-survey, a survey among all students in higher education in the Netherlands, conducted in January, February and March of 2017.

The percentages indicate what percentages of the students rate the items of this topic with ‘satisfied’ or ‘very satisfied’. Elsevier is (besides the Keuzegids Hoger Onderwijs) seen as an important source for benchmark between different programmes.

Bachelor
The bachelor’s programme Human Geography & Urban and Regional Planning is with a Final Verdict of 71% ‘(very) satisfied’ students by far the most valued Bachelor programme among similar programmes in the Netherlands. The calculated difference is also statistically significant. Spatial Planning and Design is in second place with a Final Verdict of 67%.

Master
Economic Geography is with a Final Verdict of 78% the most valued geography Master in the Netherlands. Population Studies is in second place with a Final Verdict of 73%. Besides that Socio-spatial Planning is with Final Verdict of 75% the most valued planning Master in the Netherlands. Real Estate studies and Environmental Infrastructure Planning are in the middle with 63% and 62%.
