Upcoming workshops FSS Career Services (for FSS students)

Making Maps | February 25, 15.00-18.00 | SB153, Smitsborg (full!!)
Proprietary software is commonly used in academia, but might not be easily available after graduation. FOSS (free and open-source software) can provide great alternatives for proprietary GIS software, and are available to all. QGIS is a good example of a FOSS that is constantly being improved and extended, and it has the advantage of providing a lot of flexibility in use. This course will provide a basic overview of tools for data visualization in QGIS, covering the following basic skills: data import and exploration, creating maps and graphs and exporting them in different formats. The focus of this course will be on the visualization and mapping of data and using geographical location and thematic attributes. This workshop will be the first step towards mastering your own spatial data.

> The Making Maps workshop is full! If you would like to be put on the spare list, or would like to be notified if a second workshop is organized, please send and email to careerservices.fss@rug.nl.

Employability and application skills workshops
These workshops are often organized by the team from the Faculty of Economics and Business, but that doesn’t mean that they are not of any relevance to students from our Faculty and that also does not exclude us from participating. During these workshops students can learn how to build their CV, how to ace a job interview and how to network.
