Professor Pieter Jansen appointed as vice-dean

The Faculty of Economics and Business is pleased to announce that Professor dr. Pieter Jansen has been appointed as vice-dean. Jansen will succeed Manda Broekhuis, effective September 1, 2026.
Teaching Experience
Over the past years, Jansen has combined his role as Professor of Controlling (and Programme Director of the Executive Master in Finance & Control) at the University of Groningen with his position as Director of the Scientific Bureau of Flynth Advisors & Accountants. Previously, within the faculty, he served as Programme Director of the MSc in Accountancy & Controlling and Coordinator of the Accountancy & Controlling track in the BSc in Business Administration. He brings with him 16 years of experience as a programme director and 30 years of teaching experience.
Combining Academia and Business
At Flynth, Jansen contributed to various projects. Among other things, he played an active role in shaping Flynth’s multi-year strategy, provided advice on the management and standardization of Flynth’s administrative services, and developed a long-term vision for Dutch bailiffs (on behalf of a client). The majority of his work was commissioned to support the executives of the organizations involved.
A New Challenge
Jansen is looking forward to his new role: “I am eager to apply my experience as a teacher, programme director, and advisor to various executives in my new position as Vice-Dean. The faculty’s and university’s ambitions in transdisciplinary education and research, as well as the further development of executive education, align perfectly with my interests. I am excited about this new assignment and the collaboration with my many colleagues.”
According to Dean Peter Verhoef, the faculty has found in Pieter Jansen a new vice-dean with extensive experience in educational management at the bachelor’s, master’s, and executive master’s levels. “He will work diligently to implement the educational ambitions outlined in the new strategic plan.”
