Is a study abroad period compulsory?
For the bachelor E&BE - specialization IE&B and for the bachelor IB, a study abroad period of one semester is a compulsory part of the third year. It is not compulsory for other programmes. -
Will my studies suffer delay when I spend a semester studying abroad although it is not a compulsory part of my programme?
If you can replace the compulsory course in your FEB programme with courses taken abroad, the chances of delay are small. If the courses taken abroad are additional courses, you will inevitably suffer delay. You will have to take the missed FEB courses later in your studies. -
Do IB and IE&B students have priority for study abroad?
No, they don't. Everybody has the same chances. -
I need to take a language test, but my studies include English courses. Is that not enough?

What is an "expression of approval" (adhesiebetuiging) and where can I get one?
This is a letter written by you stating where you are going, why you are going there and during which period. You can have this letter signed at the Student Support Desk and attach it to your GUF application. -

Where can I get a letter of recommendation?
You can get a letter of recommendation from your program director. If he or she is not available, you can ask your study advisor or the exchange office. -

What happens if I don't pass 30 ECTS during my study abroad?
In case you return from your study abroad with less than 30 ECTS, you will have to contact your programme coordinator about what to do next. The solution to this may differ per programme. -
