Education Student Service Centre Studying with special needs Support possibilities

Financial facilities

Have you experienced study delay due to extraordinary circumstances, such as illness, exceptional family circumstances, a functional impairment, physical problems, or because you need to provide care for someone else? If so, various forms of financial support may be available to you as a student.

One of the main conditions of eligibility for this support is that you report your circumstances and possible study delay to a study advisor as soon as possible.

Graduation fund

For a short study delay due to extraordinary circumstances, the UG provides students with financial support in the form of the Graduation fund.

Extension of the performance grant from DUO

For a longer study delay due to medical problems, student counsellors can help a student to apply for an extension of the performace grant for one year from DUO.

More information about this can be obtained from DUO.

Emergency fund

If you have financial problems because you cannot pay certain costs, despite having the right insurance and having taken the correct measures, you may apply to the UG Emergency fund. This fund can provide financial support in the form of a gift, a loan, or a combination of the two.

Individual study allowance

Many students work to contribute to the cost of their study, but this can be difficult for students with a chronic disease or functional impairment. You may therefore be eligible for an individual study allowance. Although the UG is not involved in the application for and award of this allowance, people often forget it, which is why we mention it here.

For information about the conditions and the application procedure, please contact the municipality in which you are registered.
